Congresswoman Johnson Statement on the Humanitarian Crisis at the Southern Border
Washington, DC - Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson today issued the following statement regarding the humanitarian crisis at the southern border:
"I commend my House colleagues who visited the DHS facilities at the border to shed light on the treatment of migrants behind closed doors. The lack of basic human necessities available to detainees would be considered unacceptable and inhumane in any developed nation - let alone ours," said Congresswoman Johnson.
"Last week, I voted for legislation to appropriate funding for increased standards of care at these facilities. Citizen or not, they are human beings and deserve access to essential necessities.”
