Congresswoman Johnson Promotes the Beginning of Open Enrollment
Dallas, TX – Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson today released the following statement on the commencement of the open enrollment period, which allows individuals to purchase health care from the Affordable Care Act’s marketplace between November 1 and December 15:
"Since Democrats passed the Affordable Care Act in 2010, millions of Americans have utilized the insurance market place to gain coverage for the first time. Beginning today, Americans once again have that chance with the start of open enrollment.
“Despite Republican attempts to gut the ACA’s provisions, including its protections for people with preexisting conditions, in addition to their multiple attempts to repeal the law altogether, families will still have the opportunity to purchase quality, affordable plans this year. Most people will be able to enroll in plans costing less than $75 per month.
“Should Democrats win back a congressional majority, we will make lowering health care and prescription drug costs a top priority. The American people deserve a congress that fights for the people, and Democrats all over the country, especially here in Texas, are promising to do just that.”
