Congresswoman Johnson Hosts Virtual Round Table to Discuss COVID-19 Preparedness for Upcoming School Year
DALLAS, TX – Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson held a virtual round table discussion on COVID-19 preparedness for the upcoming school year with Dallas Alliance AFT President, Rena Honea; Texas PTA President, Suzi Kennon; Superintendent CEO of Uplift, Yasmin Bhatia; and several educators and parents.
Congresswoman Johnson opened the discussion by encouraging participants to share their concerns about the impact COVID-19 has had on students’ socialization skills, their access to technology, and need for testing.
“This round table discussion gave me an opportunity to hear firsthand from educational experts and parents about what is necessary to help our children thrive academically, socially, and mentally,” said Congresswoman Johnson. “Discussions like these are held to get input from frontline workers that influence legislative remedies.”
