WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson was selected by Speaker Nancy Pelosi as a conferee on the House-Senate Conference Committee for the Fiscal Year 2020 National Defense Authorization Act. Congresswoman Johnson will actively participate in negotiating the bicameral differences in the bill in order to accurately reflect the country’s defense priorities.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve as a conferee for the FY 2020 National Defense Authorization Act,” said Congresswoman Johnson. “As Chairwoman of the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, I have been tasked to advocate for components of the legislation that are of great importance to our country, among which include key provisions on the impact of climate change on our national defense. I look forward to working with my colleagues in the House and Senate to advance a defense bill that promotes American values.”
The House-Senate Conference Committee will consider three amendments from Congresswoman Johnson that were included in the House-passed version of the FY 2020 National Defense Authorization Act. A summary of the amendments can be found here.
