Congresswoman Johnson Announces $1.36 Million Head Start Grant to District 30 Education Institute
DALLAS, TX – Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson, Chair of the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, today announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services awarded a grant totaling $1,366,250 to ChildCareGroup, a local organization that focuses on early childhood education. The grant was administered under the department’s Early Head Start program which targets pre-school aged children and families.
“I often stress that an investment in early childhood education is an investment in our future. This grant will benefit District 30 students and put them on a better trajectory for the rest of their lives,” said Congresswoman Johnson. “ChildCareGroup’s involvement in educating Dallas-area children dates back to 1906, and they will be able to continue their service to young children and families with this funding. I am delighted to extend my congratulations to them on receiving this important funding.”
Head Start grants totaling more than $2 million have been awarded to education institutions in Congresswoman Johnson’s district in the past 5 months.
