Congresswoman Johnson addresses the audience and panel members that Skyped in from Israel

 

Washington, DC – (Tuesday, June 4, 2013) –  Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson hosted a panel discussion entitled, “Moving Forward: Addressing the Challenges in Israeli/Palestinian Peace”.  The purpose of the discussion was to understand the challenges those on both sides of the conflict face, as well as to advocate for peace and the peaceful negotiation of conflict.

“After seeing the remnants of war, I know that war is not the answer,” said Congresswoman Johnson. “Women must be included in peace negotiations, and while progress is difficult, we all must continue to do our part in the process.”

The panel discussion included :  Salwa Duaibis, Women’s Centre for Legal Aid Counseling; Lior Finkel, The Peace NGO Forum; Tania Hary, Gisha; and Betty Herschman, Ir Amim.

Attendees included Members of Congress, Capitol Hill staffers, and non-governmental agencies.
